The last few years have been lean times for this Mother of Boys. Partially due to my late-in-life Bi-Polar Diagnosis, my Boys have been understandably distant. As the medicine is beginning to settle down my CrazyBrain and stabalize my mood, I can see that it wasn't only my radical behavior that kept them away.
My role model, Mother Mary, also had to deal with a distant Son. We don't know much about his years between the incident in the temple, his "Coming of Age Speeches", and then coming back at the age of 30 to reunite with his Mother. And it truly doesn't matter to me where he went. It's the inspiration I derive from this. Mary had to endure his absence with grace and patience. I can't imagine Mary nagging or bemoaning Jesus about how much she missed him. She trusted in our Lord's Divine Plan to shape and mold Jesus into the Savior he was to become. Had she meddled in God's handiwork, the whole story might have been different.
My Boys are on their Voyage of Discovery. Their experiences during this time will shape them into men. My job here is done. They are Good People with open hearts. Hearts open just enough to find their way without my help. When the time is right, they will return to me as Men; the Men God meant for them to be. In the Mean Time, I will wait patiently, just like Our Lady, and pray for the continued heart opening to the Divine, theirs and mine.
This Mother's Day was Glorious. Two of the Four Boys took me to the Zoo. How great is that? A nod to all the time we spent there when they were young. The other two took time out of their busy lives to check in with Love. My oldest is 30, so I guess it's time...
So. Much. Love.
